Crystal Grotto - Natural Kentucky Open Geode

A deep, cave-like opening reveals layers of pale crystals inside an earthy golden-brown outer shell. Larger crystal formations rise above a bed of finer crystals, creating a pocket worth looking into from several angles. Cream and white tones, natural dark markings, and rusty-orange areas give this exact specimen its character.

Jennifer Gilpin found Crystal Grotto in Lincoln County, Kentucky, in August 2026. Its name celebrates the little crystal grotto visible inside the opening. The specimen is already open and ready to examine or display; it is not an unopened break-your-own geode.
